What are you grateful for?

The year is already coming to an end, we are about to journey into another year, and here are a few things out of all the things I’m grateful for.

I’m grateful for life , I’m grateful for family, I’m grateful for real friends and healthy relationships.

I’m grateful because I’m loved even when it doesn’t feel like it, I’m grateful that I’m forgiven, I’m grateful for new growth, I’m grateful for health.

I’m grateful that in my quest and search for happiness, the all sufficient source met me at the exact point where I was needy. I’m grateful for sustenance.

I’m grateful Jesus found me, sometimes I wonder why He would love a sinner like me, but I’m grateful because He thinks I’m worth dying for.

I’m grateful for this year, the highs and the lows, the ups and downs. I’m grateful for me and for you too.

What are you grateful for?

What does beauty mean to you?

Maybe beauty doesn’t actually have to mean pain . There’s so much beauty in simplicity, there’s beauty in just being yourself in a world that keeps trying to make you someone else. There’s so much beauty in loving your self the way you are without need to change for anything or anyone. In our strive to change, we destroy ourselves under the misconstrued concept of what beauty means to the society.

It is an indisputable fact that Africa as a continent is blessed. Africa is the home to color, variety, culture, beauty and talent. But the challenge remains what we are going to make out of all these endowments we have. Are we going to put it out on sale for a worthless and discounted cost? Or are we going to make the most of what we have .Are we ready to work hard and improve upon what we already have ,or are we just going to sit and receive loans from other nations which will soon drown us in debt .” Independence cannot be real if a nation depends upon gifts ” Julius Nyerere. The darkest thing about Africa has always been our ignorance towards the wealth and natural resources that lie within us , our ignorance towards our own ability and capacity. Nothing is too little or too small to start with. We Africans must learn the art of self satisfaction and contentment. We must learn to be at peace within ourselves knowing fully that the capacity lies within. Not the satisfaction that makes us not want to strive more but that which will cause us refuse loans and withdraw from borrowing money from other nations. We must emburden ourselves with the responsibility of teaching the future generations that success only comes through hard work and not borrowing, because a borrower will always remain a slave to the lender. We borrow because we do not have the knowledge of how to fully utilize our natural God given resources and we end up interchanging these priceless resources for something very worthless and sadly we enslave ourselves and the future generations . There’s a stereotype about Africa being a poor country and my response to that is ….. Africa is only poor and is likely to remain poor because its investors are unspeakably rich . If we continue to allow other other nations to keep harnessing our natural resources and keep paying us peanuts, then we would remain ” poor ” . We Africans have to be aware that we fail as a people if we do not and cannot do anything to rescue our continent. Africa is one continent, one people, one nation. Africa is for the Africans both home and abroad.

A letter to my daughter

Dear girl, You are a masterpiece that’s what God has said . Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong, because you are what God says you are. Always remember to be yourself because you are no photocopy and you are you .Even when everyone wants to look a certain way dress a certain way just to meet up to the popular standards, do not be afraid to just be yourself. Do not ever let anyone define you or tell you what your not. Do not also allow anyone to dim your shine . Give and radiate love because we live in a cruel and wicked world. Always stand up for what is right and only right don’t ever stand up for what is wrong and do not remain silent when you know the truth. It is important to know the truth and stand by it . Also , be very patient with yourself. Mistakes are not bad and it’s completely fine to fall as long as you get up , dust yourself up and keep moving forward. Somedays may feel like the worst of days but be patient with your self , everything will work out just fine . Don’t ever forget that you are strong and I love you and God loves you even more. Believe in your own aesthetics, clasp it , understands it ,enjoy it . Seek strong female bonds, friendships that would last a life time . Friendships that would drive you to achieve, friends that would be your family even when I’m not around. One more thing ………. Boys. Boys are not evil for you , they do not also subsist for you. Do not be crazy about pleasing them because you too do not subsist for them . They can’t make your fantasy or dreams come true. They aren’t God , your dad or even Father Christmas. Boys pretend to be strong all the time and really they are not. Boys can be tender if only they are carefully disciplined to be . You’ll meet boys, several boys,or maybe a lot of them like I did . Some would be kind to you for an alternative motive , some would be mean and talk badly about your features but that don’t define you my love. You are beautiful and a boy doesn’t have to tell you that . Some others would not appreciate you and think you owe them something just because you flirted with them remember how to walk away. Finally dear girl, the most important aspect of anyone’s living is God . Put God first . It’s difficult to be born a female but you my dear girl can set the pace for others to follow.
